B.C. Epker’s work displays a fascinating mixture of recognisable historical elements with up-to-the-minute contemporary subjects. The combination allows the artist to create an unreal world which is nevertheless entirely recognisable. The pictures incite reflection. They show the world of the artist’s imagination and, despite their humour and disarmingly innocent air, possess a menacing unreality which is nurtured by the real world. The works are all executed in mixed media, generally combining ecoline, ink, gouache and pencil on paper.
