In this early painting, dating from 1966, Markus Lüpertz shows that he is an artist who revels in painting, in depicting subjects by blending and uniting colours, forms and languages. The rhythms of the zigzag motif, the hint of constructive worlds and the revelation of colour and form in a landscape provided a major boost to the group of artists who in 1985 began to understand that painting was very far from dead.
