The present-day music collection includes an extensive collection of instruments, illustrative visual materials and a splendid music library, which together document the history of (mainly European) music. Finally, the music archives (in the KoninklijkeBibliotheek) contain countless manuscripts by Dutch composers.
NB: For conservation reasons it is not possible to keep the music collection on permanent display. Special exhibitions of items from the collection are held at regular intervals. For information on these, please see the exhibition programme of the Gemeentemuseum.
