Can I use a credit card or PIN card to pay for admission?
Yes. Both the ticket office and the museum shop accept all the usual credit cards. You can also use your PIN card if you have one.
Can I order my ticket online or by phone?
No. At the moment it is not possible to buy your ticket in advance. But you won’t have to queue for long at the ticket office.
Does the museum sell Museum Cards?
Yes. Museum Cards are available from the ticket office. A Museum Card grants you free admission for one year to almost all Dutch museums. Cards are € 49,90 (including administration fees).
Is the museum closed on public holidays?
The museum is closed only on 1 January and 25 December. On all other public holidays it is open. For more information see Admission.
Is the museum open in the evenings?
No, the Gemeentemuseum closes at 17.00. But the GEM and the Hague Museum of Photography (both adjacent to the Gemeentemuseum) stay open until 18.00.
Is the museum accessible for visitors in wheelchairs or using rolling walkers?
Yes, lifts are available where necessary and the design of the museum ensures easy access for disabled people.
Am I allowed to take photographs in the museum?
Yes, you are allowed to take photographs. However, the use of flash and/or tripod is forbidden. Beware though: Photography is NOT allowed in the exhibition 'Highlights of the Mauritshuis'.
Does the museum offer self-guided audio tours?
Yes, the museum offers audio and video guides for selected exhibitions, such as the Mauritshuis exhibition.
Can the museum supply wheelchairs?
Yes, wheelchairs are available on loan from the museum foyer. It is best to reserve one In advance.
Are there disabled toilet facilities in the museum?
Yes. They are in the basement and can be reached by a lift.
