€5 per person, excl. admission to museum (entry ticket required)
Come to the Gemeentemuseum on the first Sunday of every month to enjoy a short background talk on a particular exhibition, artist, or item in the collection. Art historians Pamela Loeven and Monique Varma-Lamme are passionate about the museum and keen to share their knowledge with you. Following each talk, they'll be pleased to answer your questions.
The Hague School painters liked to get out and about. They set out by boat to observe what we now call the ‘Green Heart of Holland’ and transformed the workaday polder landscape of their own time into today’s chocolate box cliché of the Netherlands. But they were also recording a vanishing world. This talk looks back to the everyday reality of the nineteenth century.
