Museum night 2014
The Gemeentemuseum Den Haag plans to celebrate the fifth Museum Night in The Hague in grand style. Its programme will include a unique opportunity to see the internationally celebrated Netherlands Dance Theatre 2 (NDT2) and prominent Hague pop band Splendid perform live on stage over the museum pond. The performances will take place against the stupendous background of one of the finest examples of museum architecture anywhere in the Netherlands. Inside, ‘night owls’ will be able to visit the museum’s permanent displays and temporary exhibitions, or embark on its unique Wonderkamers adventure. Works waiting to be discovered will include pieces by this year’s international Vincent Award nominees. Hague poets and comedians from the PUUR GELUL team will also be on hand to entertain visitors with tall stories, hilarious jokes and comic asides. A laugh, a tear, art of international standing and a cocktail in your hand – what better way to spend the evening of 6 September?
The Gemeentemuseum always puts on a spectacular show for Museum Night in The Hague. This year is no exception. But this September’s feast of culture and entertainment will have a particularly strong local flavour. The main crowd-pullers will be the city’s NDT 2 dance troupe, Hague pop band Splendid, and local poets and comedians from the PUUR GELUL team. The up-and-coming young dancers of NDT will give not just one, but two performances of high-octane work I knew then, choreographed by Johan Inger to music by Van Morrison. These will be followed by the scintillating music of popular Hague band Splendid. In both cases, the setting on the pond in front of the museum will be simply unforgettable. Superlative performances and visual spectacle assured!
The complete schedule will be posted on our website soon.
